A CONVERSATION BETWEEN JAYSEN AND SEBASTIAN--BLAZING HEARTS BY PAUL NOSACH

"“Well!”  Jaysen raised his head.  “Where have you been?” He observed Sebastian’s body language, and came to the conclusion that he wasn’t feeling well.  “Church,” Sebastian simply said, taking the seat where Adam had occupied just a moment ago.  “It is warm,” his eyes brightened as much as he could possibly make them.  They were still puffy and red.  Had the strong doctor been crying? “Church,” Jaysen echoed. “Yes.  I was praying for Curtis Brown,” Sebastian whipped a hand over his face, resting his other on his knee, slouching to one side.  Jaysen didn’t seem surprised that his roommate was in church, let alone praying.  But that was the one thing Sebastian had done before bed.  Of course, it was obvious that it was for a patient and Adam’s best friend. “I saw him,” Sebastian suddenly said without any emotion in his voice.  He rested both elbows on his knees, hanging his head. “You saw who?” Jaysen started to believe the man before him was being elusive and mysterious.  “Curtis’ father was in the same church.  He was praying for his son,” Sebastian raised his head.  “I cannot believe I was sitting right beside him – PRAYING!” His voice raised, Sebastian threw a hand in the air, as if he were saluting Hitler.  Still holding Jaysen’s gaze, Sebastian was looking for a response, any reaction at all.  He got none."
