A Wild Adventure Full of Imagination and Fun!, February 22, 2016
By Bambikha
This review is from: Africa's Big Five Wild Animals (My First Travel Books) (Kindle Edition)
Captain Frankie and the tour guide Elia get you ready for an African adventure that will traverse across the great wilds of the Serengeti, Wanke, Kruger and more as you set out to explore and learn about the big five wild animals and the countries in which they live. Each page is colored with excitement and knowledge that your child is sure to fall in love with. The author, Anna Othitis does a fabulous job getting your little globetrotter ready and prepared to travel across the beautiful landscape of Africa. The fun begins with Othitis telling you to put on your safari hat and prepare yourself to learn all about where you must travel to see some of the world’s most amazing creatures. The way it is written you get a real sense of traveling on a plane as you make the flight to Africa.
You begin the journey by learning about each country’s flag, which is highly important to help make each place seem more real to your child. This important addition to the story helps deepen the level of learning for any person who is adventurous enough to hop on board the imaginary plane with Captain Frankie, who incidentally was born and raised in Africa. The beautiful artwork that is included helps make your experience more real and creates a sense of a real escapade across the miraculous lands. The pictures are stunning and the added image of the plane and Elia’s motorbike adds a cute addition while you read along. It was fun pointing them out to my children while still getting a solid education on each animal.
With such a thrilling intro your child will quickly become a part of the story. Each page is filled with so much telling information that you will learn much more than you expect while all along making it fun and interesting. The story helps describe in great detail the African elephant, lion, rhinoceros, buffalo, and the leopard. The description of animals includes what they look like, where they live and why, and who their enemies are. The question following each animal is helpful in getting all that information to stick and if you did not know the answer flipping back to hear it again was a perfect tool for my children.
Overall, my children and I had a blast following along with Captain Frankie and Elia. It is the perfect book that will get your child excited about learning. This book helps your child use their imagination and really get into the fun of traveling in a plane while all along learning about such amazing creatures as well as the landscape. This is a book that we will revisit time and time again when we want to learn about African animals and have fun while doing it.
