She wondered if he could be part of the break-ins…or worse. They became more worried as the robberies escalate. Maggie begins to learn enough where she wants to scream, “Emma, Oh my God, get away from him…”

I found it hard to put this book down! The author does an excellent job setting up the characters making it easy for the reader to get to know them even if they did not read previous books. I loved that the story took place in Virginia Beach with references to many of the local places I like to frequent.
I have read the other two suspense books by this author, Too Later To Run and Donation Man. I can hardly wait for the next one!

Before I began Alpha, I’d never heard of the Cŵn Annwn. Looking at a legend, though, as though it is real life inevitably produces a view entirely different from the impression one gets of a legend.

Alpha, other than a gratuitous (and erroneous) descent into politics and sexual relationships, is a well-paced story of a colony of shifters forced to move several times while caring for the humans and the souls of humans – a superhuman task indeed. It doesn’t wrap up many of the story lines in it, but that just leaves the reader eager for the next book.

Bertha and Tille are sisters and poles apart when it comes to personality traits. Tille is a looker, very sociable and her physical functions are normal. While, Bertha is physically un-coordinated and awkward. Once again she solves a murder with the help of an ancestor, her best friend, and a sassy cat. Although this time she finds herself engaged and getting her brother in law involved too. This novel is very well written, funny, and the characters seem unbelievably real. You can definitely tell the author Susan puts some of herself into every story and even Emlyn herself. I found this novel to be a quick read since I could not put it down! I’m already looking forward to the next of the series.

I loved this new addition to the Timekeepers series. It wasn’t all fairytale driven, but touched on a critical, yet disturbing part of our history – WW2 and the Nazis. Again, the traveling group were a great cast of characters and interesting. I think Sharon has done an excellent job in building her characters. The scenes were action packed and you actually were afraid for the kids. I also liked the fact that there was some darkness to the story, not all “happyland”. And she touched on other subjects that a lot of middle and young authors are afraid to.

I believe the youth of today will benefit from stories that outline our jaded past and teach them that not all is roses and whip cream. How else do we learn if we don’t learn from our past?

I did enjoy it from beginning to end and would recommend this book for middle grade kids, and a few big kids as well! The history is welcomed and the story, however a reminder for is, is wonderful.
