A CONVERSATION FROM HOUSE ON BUTCHER HARBOR BY LISA LEWIS MOON

houseonbutcherharborlm
"Ethan was buried to his waist in the sand as he and Claire dug beneath the house to find the chest. Dogg and Grace came back to the hole in the floor where Harris, Vincent, and Quince were waiting and watching. They were talking about something. Grace was waving her arms around and dragging Harris away from the hole.
“Quince! What's going on?” Claire called to him as she continued to pull sand out of the hole. Her left side and leg ached now from sitting in the cramped space and pulling at the sand.
“Not much. An angry mob has just set fire to the house, that's all,” he yelled down to her. He was trembling from the cold.
“A warm fire sounds nice!” she called up, trying to remain calm “Yeah, except that we're still inside,” Ethan hollered.
“Where's my mother?” “In the living room. She is scolding the house for falling apart. Wooden pegs are flying out of the wood all over the place. We don't have much time!”"
